The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail is a collection of over 45 major trails, connecting the earth’s largest group of freshwater lakes. Along its extensive, 3,000 km length, you will be immersed in Ontario’s history, culture, and wildlife.


The Waterfront Trail is a signature project of the Waterfront Regeneration Trust. Their goal is to ensure that people have access to the world’s largest group of freshwater lakes. The trail and waterfront regeneration work connect communities and individuals to the natural world.

The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail connects hundreds of parks, beaches, and forests, along with over 100 communities. and 45 First Nations across the province of Ontario. Spanning over 3,000 km, this trail passes through three UNESCO Biospheres, 33 Provincial Parks, five National Parks, 21 National Historic Sites, 83 Conservation Areas, and 169 Beaches.
