Peter Boyer grew up in Kingston, Ontario. Eastern Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River were his stomping grounds as a kid. Boyer’s father was a freshwater scientist who helped the International Joint Commission with its pioneering water quality research. Boyer eventually followed in his father's footsteps and served the IJC's Science Advisory Board for more than 25 years.
