I went to the lake with a friend from a 12-Step program to create our own study retreat for a couple of days. Other friends who live on the lake generously loaned us their cabin. We sat on their dock enjoying the tranquility while we read, meditated and did yoga.
At night we sat by the fire listening to the silence, broken only by the occasional sound of a loon. We left feeling refreshed and, more importantly, with a new depth and weight to our understanding and experience of our recovery program. In turn, we'll be able to help others with their recovery.
