Mill Creek is a tiny stream that runs through Aberfoyle. I identify with the creek as it’s kind of my homewaters. It’s unusual because there is a group called the Friends of Mill Creek, which works with the Grand River Conservation Authority and hires High School Students and University Graduates throughout the summer to work on restoration efforts of the Creek. Two of my sons were Mill Creek rangers which is how I got into it.
Back in the 80’s, I was involved in one of the gravel hearings in an effort to protect the creek – in the end we lost which turned me off the whole thing for a while. But then seeing my son's work on the creek and seeing the great turn around – the restoration on Mill Creek is a great success story.
