In July 1985 I paddled into Norgate Inlet with my father and my young son, Joseph. We camped on crown land and spent three days in the inlet. I felt as if I had been transported to the Georgian Bay of my youth.
Wildlife was everywhere around us. It was quiet and the possibilities of exploring the many islands and connecting channels seemed endless. With my parents help and after a few years of searching I was able to buy an island in Norgate Inlet and eventually build a cottage. My children have now all grown up in the inlet and we all continue be amazed by it.
