It is the perfect combination of river - like and seas - like characteristics. Fresh water and waves; small scale among the islands and large scale in places where the river is open and wide. We were introduced to the river by friends in 1969 and immediately fell in love with it. We have been back every summer since.
It made us boaters which led me to complete the Great Lakes in 2006 - 08. It introduced us to a whole community of like-minded people and has become a very important part of our lives.

As of 2024, the Great Lakes Guide will be transitioning to Biinaagami.org. Biinaagami is a multimedia, change-provoking initiative rooted in Indigenous knowledge aiming to uplift voices and to connect people with their watershed.
