In all the years that I’ve lived in Canada, I never knew fish were in the Don River. I lived really close to this river for quite some time. In the 80s, the Don was quite polluted. I remember seeing tires, cans, garbage. So for local fishing, I usually went to the Humber River (at Erindale Park).
Last summer, my son and I went walking along the Don and I was shocked to see fish! And there were so many – and they were big! It was a huge difference, and it makes me happy. The river is more useful to nature. It was beautiful!
Had I known there were fish in the Don, I probably would’ve tried fishing there.
