My Watermark is Go Home Bay in Georgian Bay, Ontario.

Being the third generation owner of a property in Go Home Bay on the east shore of Georgian Bay, I have spent some part of every summer of my life in this paradise. We still swim, fish and drink the water, but we have, as a community, noticed a decline of fish population, a substantial increase in boat traffic as well a fluctuation in water quality. An increase in the presence of invasive species has been creating a good deal of concern, but as a community we are attempting to eradicate these.

Go Home Bay lives larger than most any other part of the life for our community and as such we all do whatever we can to help protect the water. It allows children to grow up in a life style that has been lost in a lot of areas of our country, where they can freely explore nature.

By interacting with the dozens of species of reptiles, respecting nesting loons off private docks, learning the different kinds of fish and insects, turtles and otters, beaver and mink, they grow up with these experiences deep in their hearts. This, in turn creates a new generation of adults who will take steps to protect the nature that lives so deeply in their souls.
