My Watermark is the Kingston Waterfront of Lake Ontario.
My most powerful memory of the Kingston Waterfront was the time since 1970, testing the water off of Richardson Beach for pollution and contamination, especially after heavy rain, and finding devastatingly high levels of pollution - still a problem today. But slowly and steadily it is improving, after decades of citizen activism (after a small minority that has a grown telling members).
The Kingston Waterfront is important to me because public access to the waterfront and clean swimmable water is an issue of social equity, environmental sustainability and community building.
