I used to live on an island in the St. Lawrence River, which was very cool because I had to take a boat from home to get to work every day. One night, I was with a couple of buddies, who were visiting from out of town. So in the middle of the night, awe went out into the middle of the channel. We decided to turn the boat’s motor off and float for a while to enjoy the stars and the waves.
We were looking up at the stars as well as the lights from the shore. Suddenly, we realized that some of the lights were getting closer and closer to us. Those lights were lights from a ship. It turns out that we were in the middle of a shipping channel. We had to quickly turn on the motor and get out of the way to avoid being run over.
