Wind and waves shaped this region over centuries. Sandy Island Beach is part of the Eastern Lake Ontario Dune and Wetland System. This is the only major freshwater dune site in the Northeastern United States. Enjoy a swim in Lake Ontario at this state park. Be sure to treasure the beach, coves, wetlands and wildlife while you are here. Sandy Island beach is open on 11am- 7pm on weekends from May 28th to June 18th and every day from June 18th - Labor Day. Facilities on site include bathrooms, change rooms and outdoor showers. Parking is $7/vehicle.
