Located on Lake Simcoe, the beach at Sheppard Avenue Park and Wharf is rocky. The surrounding area offers a dock for launching boats, as well as fishing. From Sheppard Avenue Park you can see Snake Island, which is one of three islands on Lake Simcoe that was originally inhabited by Chippewa Chief Joseph Snake and his people. It is not clear whether Snake Island was named after Joseph Snake.

Kayaking and canoeing in the lake with family members are very bonding and calming activities.
