Baxter Conservation Area is a beautiful 197 acre park located within the river floodplain, along the shores of the Rideau River. The park is home to coniferous plantations, open meadows, alder thickets, mixed forests, and marshlands. It also overlooks one of the most pristine beaches on the Rideau River. Take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk or hike the 5 km of fabulous trails — trails that will take you to the Filmore Park Nut Grove, Community Wildflower Garden, Wetland outlook spots, and the Solar Power project. At the head of the trail you will also find an interpretive centre that hosts various environmental education programs. There truly is something for everyone at Baxter Conservation Area!
