Within the park is an 90 acre reservoir, created by the construction of the Shade’s Mill dam. The reservoir has become a popular spot for swimming, paddling, and fishing year-round! Kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards are available to rent. Visitors also enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter through the mature hardwood forests. The park offers an easy getaway from the busy cities. Stop by for a game of volleyball, a picnic in the shade, or an afternoon of relaxing on the sandy beach.

Back in the 80’s, I was involved in one of the gravel hearings in an effort to protect the creek – in the end we lost which turned me off the whole thing for a while. But then seeing my son's work on the creek and seeing the great turn around – the restoration on Mill Creek is a great success story.
