My Watermark is the Ottawa River, Ontario.
Over the years, I’ve realized the importance of fresh water and that clean fresh water is scarce and is continuing to decrease. Having travelled to parts of the United States and other countries, I have noticed a great difference in water quality. Many water systems add harmful chemicals to keep the water free of microbes and bacteria. Water pipes are often old and deteriorating, exuding toxic chemicals or are lined with toxic chemicals.
With the increasing human population and demand for freshwater, I’m personally motivated in maintaining high quality water. By decreasing our plastic consumption and the use of micro-beads in our waters, we can eliminate one of the pollutants that is harmful to our waters.
