Bessinger Road beach is located at West Bessinger Road and U.S.23. Au Gres is located in eastern Arenac County along the Au Gres River, a few miles from Saginaw Bay and the Lake Huron shoreline. French explorers referred to the area as having "gritty stone," hence the name Au Gres. A public boat launch operated by the Michigan DNR provides access to Saginaw Bay and walleye, bass, and perch fishing opportunities.
