Lake Superior Provincial Park - Katherine Cove Beach

Lake Superior Provincial Park is a"Natural Environment" class park located near Wawa.
The park has 2 campgrounds with services for RVs and tents, 200 backcountry campsites, 3 day-use areas, 11 hiking trails, and 8 canoe routes.
Katherine Cove is a picturesque white sand beach, located just off Highway 17, about 1 hour and 45 minutes north of Sault Ste.
Marie and 45 minutes south of Wawa.
Experience the crystal-clear waters of Lake Superior and pack a lunch to enjoy at one of the picnic tables! The beach is also located along the park’s Coastal Trail, allowing visitors to explore more rugged sections of coastline nearby.
A few things to keep in mind when visiting:- Parking is limited and a permit is required to park at Katherine Cove from early May to mid- October.
Day-use permits can be obtained at the Visitor Centre(Agawa Bay) if travelling from Sault Ste.
Marie, or the Park Office(Red Rock Lake) or Rabbit Blanket Lake Campground Gatehouse if travelling from Wawa.
Life jackets are also available for loan at these locations.- As Katherine Cove is a designated swimming area, dogs are not permitted on the beach.- The waters of Lake Superior can be quite cold, particularly in early summer, and there may be powerful waves on windy days.
There are no lifeguards on site – water safety is your responsibility.- Be mindful of the fragile beach vegetation growing at this site and keep in mind that removing natural materials from provincial parks is prohibited.
