Beverly Swamp Conservation Area is one of the largest lowland swamp forests in all of Southwestern Ontario. It spans an impressive 5,743 acres and supports a wide diversity of plant and animal life. In fact, Beverly Swmp has been designated as an Environmentally Sensitive Area and a Life Science Area of Provincial Significance. Many animal species call this place home, including Snowshoe Hares, Deer Mice, Porcupines, Flying Squirrels, and hundreds of bird species. The streams that flow through the region drain in to both Lake Ontario and Lake Erie and the conservation area connects to Bronte, Fairchild, Grindstone, and Spencer Creeks, which feed the marshy swamplands and dense Carolinian forest. The forest is made up of maple, cedar, and aspen trees — the perfect backdrop to a summer hike or an autumn horseback ride along the trails.
