Fletcher Creek Ecological Preserve is an abandoned hard rock quarry from the 1930s located at the headwaters of Spencer Creek. This land was restored into a rare wetland habitat and now spans and impressive 414 acres! It is now home to a variety of rare species, including leopard frogs, bats, foxes, and many coniferous and deciduous trees. As this provincially significant wetland continues to grow, the trees are thickening and it will soon become the ideal wintering shelter for many animals. Take a stroll down one of the many well-maintained trails that wind their way through this unique conservation areas. As you explore, you will pass meadows of wildflowers, meandering creeks, young forests, and rich and diverse wetland habitats. The Red and Orange trails are accessible to strollers and wheelchairs and are ideal for hiking and cycling. There are also plenty of benches to stop, rest, and take in the views.
