Driftwood Provincial Park

Park

Found on the shores of a sheltered bay, Driftwood Provincial Park is the perfect place to stop and enjoy nature on the waterfront. The bay was created by the construction of the Des Joachims hydro-electric dam in 1950 and the park was named for the driftwood that is carried downstream and washes onto the bay’s shores. Known for its beautiful sunsets and peaceful family-oriented setting, it is the perfect place for a picnic or scenic walk. The hiking trails in the park follow rocky ridges and glacial formations, offering a panoramic view of the Upper Ottawa Valley and Laurentian Hills in Quebec. This park is a popular summer destination for every kind of camper. Many of the campsites are on the waterfront, so accessing the two sandy beaches for a swim and canoe is fast and easy. The Ottawa River is also a great fishing destination for yellow pickerel, northern pike, and smallmouth bass. Even though the park is gated in the winter, visitors can enter on foot for great hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
