Within the city of Dorion, Ontario, lies Hurkett Cove Conservation Area — a beautiful park located on Black Bay. The park spans over 300 acres and makes for a spectacular day trip. There are plenty of picnic tables and a covered pavillion, so visitors can spend the day enjoying a get together with family and friends. Nature enthusiasts will love the 2 km trail that will take you through a canopy of green. Often referred to as a naturalist’s paradise, Hurkett Cove is home to one of the best birdwatching sites in the province! Raptors soar overhead, songbirds sing among the trees, while waterfowl and shorebirds dive and swim in the lake. Keep your eyes peeled for the wide variety of bird species, including Bald Eagles, Cedar Waxwings, Short-Eared Owls, Common Loons, and many, many more.
