John R. Park Homestead

Park

Take a step back in time to the 1800s at John R. Park Homestead. This 19 acre conservation area is located on the picturesque waterfront in Harrow, Ontario. A nature trail runs through the Fox Creek wetland and winds its way to a scenic boardwalk along the lake. On top of its many natural attractions, this conservation area is home to a classical revival home from 1850. This property belonged to John and Amelia Park and contains a house, a working smokehouse, ice house, and barn. Video presentations will teach you about life in the homestead’s hayday — you might even get the chance to learn hands-on by making old-fashioned ice cream or maple syrup! Play with historic wooden toys, taste baked goods from the kitchen fireplace, and visit the blacksmith and sawmill to experience first-hand how life was lived nearly 200 years ago. Several events occur throughout the year, including the Harvest and Horse festival in autumn. In the spring, livestock are brought in and home-grown vegetables and flowers fill the farmland. This magnificent park also serves as a popular wedding venue. Visit John R. Park Homestead Conservation Area to discover all that it has to offer!
