Bay Furnace Recreation Area Beach is a fantastic place for rustic camping. Be sure to check out the old furnace, a huge stone structure once used to make iron. In 1877, the town was destroyed by fire but the furnace still remains. There is a casino and excellent restaurants nearby. The area has gone by the name "Christmas" since the late 1930s.

The last sort of phase of some of my research has been to try to understand the deep waters of Lake Superior, siskowet lake trout. People ask me this question all the time, “What do you find out in the deepest part of the lake?”
