Dan Patterson Conservation Area

Park

Dan Patterson Conservation Area is a popular hiking destination and picnic spot nestled in the valleylands of Kettle Creek. There are 3 km of hiking trails with informative signs along the way and plenty of shady trees to rest under. The park even has a large pavilion available for rent. A playground will keep the kids busy, while an off-leash dog park will provide your four-legged friend some freedom and exercise. For history buffs, there is a restored log cabin that was originally the home of Alexander Patterson (a Scottish immigrant) in the 1930s. The conservation area also hosts the Elgin Historical show, with demonstration of steam-powered machinery, an antique tractor display, and a thresherman’s breakfast!
