Beach 7 - Waterworks

Beach

Check for signs posted at the beach before swimming at Presque Isle State Park. The picnic pavillion on this beach makes it a perfect spot for family reunions or other large group get togethers, the playground on the beach is a fun addition to a picnic as well. Waterworks Beach is a great spot for fishing and has a convenient wheelchair ramp down to the water (free loaner beach wheelchairs are available at the park). There are washrooms and a lifeguard on site. Waterworks is near Yellow Bike rental, where you can rent bikes or even a Segway to tour the park in style. Waterworks was originally the source of freshwater for the city of Erie, which is how it got it’s name. A pump house was built here in 1908 to supply the city, the pump house is now used to control the zebra mussel population in the lake.
