Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park - Main Beach

Beach

Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, named after the 17th-century explorer, is located along the Mattawa River, east of North Bay. The park celebrates the voyageurs who tackled the portages and rapids here, and is home to three beaches, all located on the refreshing and clear waters of Moore Lake. Bagwa beach is a large and sandy beach in the park’s Day Use area, perfect for a refreshing swim, an enjoyable outing to have a picnic, to play some lawn games in the large field, or to hang out in the shaded areas under the large pine trees. While at Day Use, keep an eye out for Blandings and Painted turtles! Washroom, garbage and recycling facilities are located within walking distance, as well as ample parking. Pets are not permitted on the beach, and there are no lifeguards on duty. A life jacket lending program is available at the Park Store, including rental canoes and stand up paddleboards.
