Bannockburn Conservation Area is located between Brucefield and Bayfield, Ontario. This conservation area was created in order to improve water quality and the health of the diverse surrounding ecosystems. The region is home to an impressive six different natural communities: wetland meadows, eastern white cedar forests, deciduous forests, old-growth fields, mixed scrub fields, and marshlands. A stunning trail winds its way through these environments and will take approximately one hour to complete. The trail starts with a boardwalk that is wheelchair accessible, allowing easy access to the stunning scenery, while also protecting the natural environment! Along the way, you might come across the remains of an old homestead, pine plantation, and pasture field. Also keep your eyes peeled for the wide variety of wildlife that call this area home! You might even spot grouse, deer, or numerous songbirds. End your day by crossing the Iron Truss pedestrian bridge over the Bayfield River and watch the unmatched sunsets shine over Bannockburn.
